Kindergarten

 WELCOME TO SPRING OF OUR KINDERGARTEN YEAR!
 
 
Here's what we are learning this Month:
 
Language Arts: We are learning to decode words to read our stories, and answering comprehension questions that help build our understanding of the world around us!  
  
Writing:  We are working on writing two sentences connected in meaning, with an illustration to match our story. 
 
Math: We are learning all about the numbers 0-20, and how to add or subtract with numbers 0-20. We continue to expand our knowledge on many other math concepts such as money, personal finance, graphing, shapes, measurement and more!
 
Science: We are investigating animal needs, characteristics, types of animals, and their habitats. 
 
Social Studies: We are learning about community and how we can help in our community.

REVIEW OF ALL WORDS
 
Homework:
Homework will continue to come home weekly, and continue sight word practice! 
 

Helpful Information to know...

 ***Doors open at 7:10am; students may come at this time but are not expected to be at school until 7:40am when the bell rings***

Breakfast is free all year for all students. If you would like your child to eat breakfast, please arrive as close to 7:10am as possible, so they will not miss class time.

DISTRICT PARENT AND COMMUNITY SURVEY (Closes April 30th) :

It's that time again for our Community and Student Engagement Survey.
 
Attached is a sheet of QR Codes and the link to the survey. We would like 100% of our families at NJES to participate and help us grow! 
 
The survey link will close on Sunday, April 30th.

Reminders:
 
***Please make sure to check your child's folder daily as there will be items to complete at
home that are important for your child to benefit in the class activities.
 
***Parents are always welcome to come and have lunch with their student; please make sure you stop by the office and get a badge
stating you are in the cafeteria.  When lunch is over please feel free to walk with you student until we get to the recess
hallway and say Good Bye with a hug and a kiss:)
 
 
 
Teacher Needs:
 
We would love some help during lunch time in the cafeteria, if you would like to donate about 45 minutes of your time please email your
child's teacher and let her know.  If this is something you would like to do we ask that you be volunteer trained, to find information on that
please see the Nadine Johnson Website for a link to obtain information regarding Volunteering. Our lunch is from 10:40-11:20pm.
