To tell a story, participants must develop skills in listening, thinking and speaking. Students are read a story, which they must orally tell back to the judges. Preparing for this event also allows for the development of creative expression and self-confidence. For practice teachers can use stories from good children’s books or magazines. The story is read only once to students, and then they retell that story in their own words before judges.
